Training and Consultancy

UK Air Traffic Control Training

ASTAC has been granted Civil Aviation Authority approval to conduct UK АТС courses at Rudloe College. Courses scheduled for 2002 include Approach Procedural, Aerodrome Control and OJTI, with the first UK course commencing in January 2002 and with Radar Control courses planned for the Autumn.

ICAO Air Traffic Control Training

The training of overseas delegates is an essential part of ASTAC's work and we have already trained АТС personnel from Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan and Slovenia. ASTAC instructors are drawn from UK, Ireland, Singapore, Denmark and New Zealand. They command a breadth of training experience that is unrivalled in the industry and their diverse experience helps to provide a multi-cultural environment where every nationality can feel at ease.

English, Language and Instructor Training

The ELT team at Rudloe run courses in General English and specialize in Aviation, Technical and Business English. For prospective trainers we offer courses in Instructional Techniques, in Testing & Examination Methods and in Training Management. The department also provides programmes in Project, Financial and ATS Management.

Consultancy

ASTAC has a pool of consultants who are available for instructional duties in-country.

Training Facilities

Rudloe College has the capacity to train up to 48 АТС delegates concurrently using sophisticated simulators. Classrooms are equipped with interactive smart boards. A Language Laboratory and Resource Centre serve the needs of English Language training. Delegates have their own lounge with internet access, a coffee-bar and a shop.

Accommodation

Accommodation is currently provided in hotels, guesthouses, selected host families or, if requested, in rented flats.

Delegate Welfare

A Delegate Welfare Manager provides a wide range of services for delegates, including:
• Meet and greet at airports
• Full programme of social and recreational activities
• Weekend excursions to London and other places of interest

Company Management Profile

Bob Pegg - Managing Director
Has extensive aviation experience both as aircrew and as an air traffic controller. His career in АТС has covered operational and training duties both civil and military. He also brings worldwide commercial experience gained in his previous employment as a Director of Aviation Training.

Francis Lucas - Director of English & Teacher Training
With 30 years of English teaching and teacher training experience in the UK and overseas, he has managed major ELT/ESP projects in the Middle and Far East, Africa and Eastern Europe. He holds the MA (Cambridge) and M.Ed ( UCW ), is a qualified Teacher and Careers Officer and a Tutor/Lecturer for the Open University.

Christine LT Phua - Chief Instructor ICAO АТС Training
Twenty-eight years experience in the operational field of civil Air Traffic Control at a busy international airport, covering all aspects, from controlling and on-the-job training, through to instructing and management of training with extensive experience in training multi- national delegates.
She has held senior instructor posts in UK and Singapore and besides instructing was Chief Examiner at Bailbrook College from July 2000 until its closure.

Martin Thomas - Chief Instructor, UK АТС Training
Has an in-depth aviation experience as a military flight navigator and АТС Training Officer, and as a civil Senior Air Traffic Control Officer and Unit Training Officer. He has 18 years experience as an АТС instructor, is a qualified Civil Aviation Authority and ICAO examiner and was heavily involved in courseware development during the latter years at Bailbrook.
