GEN 3.2 AERONAUTICAL CHARTS

1. RESPONSIBLE SERVICE

AIM department of RSE Kazaeronavigatsia develops and produces aeronautical charts for the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. All charts are included in the AIP of Kazakhstan excepting Aeronautical Chart - ICAO 1:500 000. FPD and cartography division

Aeronautical charts are produced in accordance with the ICAO documents:

ICAO Annex 4 Aeronautical Charts;
Doc 8168 Aircraft Operations. Volume II;
Doc 8697 Aeronautical Chart Manual.

2. MAINTENANCE OF CHARTS

The aeronautical charts included in the AIP are kept up to date by amendments to the AIP. Changes on these charts can also be made by NOTAM issue.

The aeronautical charts not included in the AIP are kept up to date by AIRAC system. They are listed under item 8 of this subsection..

Information concerning the planning for or issuance of new maps and charts is notified by Aeronautical Information Circular (AIC).

3. PURCHASE ARRANGEMENTS

The charts published in the AIP are provided free of charge via Internet. An electronic version of aeronautical chart - ICAO 1:500 000 is also available on Kazaeronavigatsia’s website - www.ans.kz

General description of each series

Enroute Chart covers the entire territory of Republic of Kazakhstan (FIR of UAAA, UACN, UAII, UATT) and shows the ATS route system including tracks and distances between reporting points, radio navigation aids together with the assigned frequencies and identifications, the airspace structure including lower and upper limit, the prohibited, restricted and danger areas.
Aerodrome Chart - provides the crew with necessary information regarding aerodrome movement area and indicates the location of main ground facilities providing services for crew and passengers.
Aerodrome ground movement and aircraft parking chart - provides the crew with information that enable them to perform ground movement to the parking area and from the parking area to the runway.
Aerodrome Obstacle Chart - ICAO Tape A is designed to provide information on significant obstacles within the climb sector. Obstacles are indicated on the take-off flight path in plan and profile.
Precision Approach Terrain Chart ICAO is designed to provide detailed terrain profile information within a defined portion of the final approach so as to enable aircraft operating agencies to assess the effect of the terrain on decision height determination by the use of radio altimeters.
Area Chart provides the flight crew with necessary information that facilitate the following phases of instrument flight: the transition between the en-route phase and the approach to an aerodrome; the transition between the take-off/missed approach and the en-route phase of flight; and flights through areas of complex ATS routes or airspace structure.
Standard Instrument Departure Chart — (SID) - provides the flight crew with information that enable them to comply with the designed standard instrument departure route from the take-off phase to the en-route phase.
Standard Instrument Arrival Chart – (STAR) - provides the flight crew with information that enable them to comply with the designated standard instrument arrival route from the en-route phase to the approach phase.
ATC Surveillance Minimum Altitude Chart - provides the flight crew with information that enable them to monitor and cross-check altitudes assigned by the controller using an ATS surveillance system.
The Instrument Approach Chart - provides the flight crew with complete information that enable them to perform an instrument approach procedure
Visual Approach Chart - provides the flight crews with information that enable them to transit from the en-route/descent phase to the approach on the intended landing runway phase by means of visual reference.
Aeronautical Chart — ICAO 1:500 000 - provides information necessary for compliance the requirements of visual air navigation for low-speed flight, for short- or medium-range distance at low and intermediate altitudes.
