Today we will talk about a unique training center located in the southern capital of Kazakhstan.  Professional Training Center (PTC) is a structural subdivision of the air navigation services provider of Kazakhstan – «Kazaeronavigatsia» RSE. Air traffic controllers, CNS specialists, meteorologists and other specialists in the civil aviation industry are studied in PTC.

The training center first opened its doors in 2004 and then was only engaged in organizing and conducting advanced training courses for air navigation specialists. Today, the Center provides initial training, refresher courses and maintenance of the professional level of aviation personnel.

Specialists of the Professional Training Center teach in 56 programs. Since 2016, the Center has been the only aviation training center in the Republic that has the status of a full member of the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS program.

ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS program is an international community that develops training courses for aviation personnel, together with its participants. The program gives centers access to a global network of aviation training materials and programs. Since participating in the program, the employees of the Professional Training Center have developed 8 educational and methodological complexes, which are successfully used in training to this day. All of them are approved and certified by ICAO.

Also, PTC employees conduct tests to determine the level of English and to maintain it for air traffic controllers and aircraft pilots. The exam is not standard; it requires knowledge of aviation English at level 4 on the ICAO scale. In total, more than 5,000 tests were carried out between 2008 and 2023.

By the way, the PTC examiners themselves speak level 6 of the English language according to the ICAO scale, and also annually maintain and improve their professional skills by taking special courses in the UK.

Today there is an increase in the number of specialists studying at the PTC. If in 2016 -  778 people completed professional  training courses, then in 2023 this figure tripled and amounted to 2,136.
