The “Green Corridors” project by the specialists of “Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE entered the top three global sustainable aviation initiatives

The prestigious Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Aviation Award was presented at the 42nd Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal.
The “Green Corridors” project, developed by specialists from “Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE, was named the top three global sustainable aviation initiatives, behind only Germany and the United States. 52 countries, 84 projects, and 194 participants took part in the competition.

The “Green Corridors” Initiative is the world's first economic incentive scheme for air carriers to use sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) on international cargo flights.
The project includes:
∙ Reducing air navigation charges for airlines operating SAF flights;
∙ Using the Book & Claim mechanism to transparent fuel confirmation;
∙ Scientific modeling the impact of contrails and CO₂ emissions;
∙ Launching pilot routes in 2026 and subsequent scaling.
The authors of the project are specialists from “Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE: Mr. Nursultan Tompiyev, Mr. Madi Asylkhanov, Mr. Asset Akhmetbayev and Mr. Abay Akkulov.

“The international recognition of the “Green Corridors” project is a result of the strategic focus of “Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE on innovation and sustainable development. We strive to transform the airspace of the Republic of Kazakhstan into a “green aviation bridge” between Europe and Asia, where ecology and economics operate within a unified model,” noted in “Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE.

∙ Еcology: CO₂ emissions reduced by 70–80% on SAF flights;
∙ Economy: Increased attractiveness of the airspace of the Republic of Kazakhstan for international transit air carriers;
∙ Image: Positioning the Republic of Kazakhstan and “Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE as leaders in the implementation of innovative mechanisms in global aviation.
The Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Aviation Award was established to promote global best practices in aviation. It covers directions of innovation, sustainable development, and digital transformation. The awards ceremony took place on September 27, 2025 as part of the official Gala Dinner of the ICAO Assembly.
The specialists of “Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE have already been remarked at the international level — different years, their projects have won and received prizes at prestigious competitions, including the ATCA (Air Traffic Control Association) Awards in the United States.
